Community building is the gathering of community around a project that connects us to each other and the earth; bringing together many hands to create with natural and reclaimed materials.

Bringing local, natural and reclaimed materials together with community hands creates possibilities for beautiful results, both the physical project and the human connections built. Using natural and reclaimed materials is good for the planet, as there is less energy required to harvest and utilize these materials (and thus less pollution produced). There is plenty of evidence that our well-being is improved with our connections to nature, including recent research suggesting that working in the soil releases serotonin in the brain, improving our mood and sense of well-being. The benefits are numerous and the possibilities endless.  Natural building projects like earth ovens and earth benches are great opportunities for building community.
